Caldwell Street Work To Kick Into Gear – Brevard NC

The N.C. Department of Transportation (DOT) begins in earnest this Wednesday the construction project to widen South Caldwell Street in Brevard from two to three lanes.

The project was initiated in the Brevard Thoroughfare Plan in the late 1990s, a traffic study conducted by the DOT that identified problems, such as traffic congestion, narrow pavement widths and a high number of car accidents, along both Broad and Caldwell streets.

Aaron Powell, a DOT resident engineer, said the project is designed to minimize traffic and car accidents, and once completed there will be two lanes going...
