Leaders are used in a variety of ways out on the water. Learn to tie, and what style to use, on Jan. 20.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is offering a "Leader Building" workshop for fly fishing anglers of all skill levels at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education on Jan. 20.

The workshop, which is free, will run from 10 a.m. to noon and is open to participants 12 and older. Under the direction of the center's fly-fishing instructors, participants will learn how to choose the weight and length of leaders, as well as when and under what conditions to use a certain leader, for more effective fly-fishing.
