Letter From Birmingham Jail

While most people are familiar with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, what has been historically referred to as his “Letter from Birmingham Jail” written in April of 1963 offers his insight into political activisim. King’s letter, written as a rebuttal to eight prominent white clergymen who wrote against civil rights demonstrations, serves as a good starting point for discussions in determining how a law is just or unjust and how people should appropriately respond to such laws.
