Students Deserve Art, Music, PE

I read with dismay the headline and article in The Transylvania Times of Jan. 19 concerning a state-mandated law that may affect the teaching of music, the arts, and physical education in our local schools.

The law is designed to reduce class size in elementary schools. While I feel this is a worthy goal, it may mean the loss of teachers who teach music, the arts, and physical education.
