Tornados Fall To Railsplitters In Spring Tennis Opener – Brevard NC

Freshman Cre Still defeated LMU's Joshua Coulthard 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot to earn Brevard's only match win of the day as Brevard (1-5) fell to the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial (2-0) on Saturday afternoon.

Brevard had several close sets throughout the day.

Will Christiansen battled LMU's David Segarra in two tough sets.

Segarra won set one, 6-3, and Christiansen fought back in the second set, falling 6-4 at the No. 5 position.

Freshman JR Davis fell 6-3 6-3 to Joshua Peress at the No. 3 spot.

Tim Hengst had the same result against Lincoln Memorial's Pepe Batalla at the No. 4 spot.

Hengst fell 6-3 in both sets. After falling 6-0 in the first set, Tom Mittring won three games in set two, falling to Railsplitters' Xavier Marti 6-3 at the No. 2 position.

In the doubles competition, Mittring and Davis battled LMU's Joshua Peress and Xavier Marti to an 8-5 defeat at the No. 1 spot. Still and Christiansen had the same result at the No. 2 position falling to Segarra and Batalla 8-5, as well.

Christoph Plasa and Hengst fell to Jake Tuchmann and Carlos Zunino 8-3 at the No. 3 spot in the doubles competition.

Brevard will return to the courts next Saturday, Feb. 18, as they host Lees-McRae in a nonconference match beginning at 1 p.m.

Women's Side Falls 9-0

The Brevard College women's tennis team (0-3) fell 9-0 to Lincoln Memorial University (2-0) in their home opener on Saturday afternoon.

Kelsey Kushner and Sam Miranda were the only Tornados to win a game as they fell 8-1 to Priscilla Bulandres and Kiersten Waugh in the doubles competition at the No. 1 position.

Kushner battled at the No. 1 spot for the Tornados against LMU's Johanna Delisse, falling 6-0, 6-0 in two sets.

Railsplitters' Marta Pinol defeated Sam Miranda at the No. 2 position 6-0, 6-0. Katie Hatter battled Julia Loos at the No. 3 position falling 6-0 in both sets.

Carmen Boone, Audrey Cardwell, and Gabi Harness competed in Brevard's final three positions each falling 6-0 in both sets.

Hatter and Cardwell fell 8-0 in the doubles competition against Julia Loos and Johanna Delisse at the No. 2 spot.

LMU's Roksolana Prudyvus and Marta Pinol beat Boone and Harness 8-0 at the No. 3 position.

Brevard will look to bounce back as they host Lees-McRae on Feb. 18 in a nonconference match beginning at 1 p.m.
