Transylvania School Dropout Numbers Continue To Fall – Brevard NC

The dropout rate in Transylvania County Schools dropped 42 percent in 2015-16, the latest year for which dropout data is available.

Jeremy Gibbs, chief academic officer for Transylvania County Schools, told the Transylvania County Board of Education at its meeting Monday night that the number of dropouts had decreased from 38 in 2014-15 to 22 in 2015-16.

“It’s a significant change,” said Gibbs.

A dropout is defined as “any student who leaves school for any reason before graduation or completion of a program of studies without transferring to another elementary or secondary school....
