Floyd G. "Bear" Tinsley

Floyd G. “Bear” Tinsley, 70, of Springfield, Ore. and born and raised in Brevard, went home Feb. 21, 2017.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, C.A. Bear and Lucille Brown Tinsley; a brother, S. Gene Tinsley; and stepson, David Hiatt.

He is survived by his wife, Winifred Kihs Tinsley; his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Kelly, Ian and Kellan Sullivan, of La Center, Wash .; his son, Geary “Buck” Tinsley, of Vancouver, Wash .; a brother Calvin Tinsley and wife, Shirley, of Pisgah Forest; and his sister, Frances Martin of Winston Salem, N.C.

He was a kindhearted man who would help anyone in need. His job in the paper industry took him to many places in the world and he loved to fish and hunt.

He lived from 1946-2017 and believed the “dash” between those years is what you do with the time you have and that is what truly matters.
