Arvol Owen

Arvol Owen, 82, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017.

He was the son of the late Pierson and Mandy (Queen) Owen. He was a member of Charley’s Creek Baptist Church, of Tuckasegee, N.C., and loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Birdene (Buchanan) Owen; one sister, Imo Gene Osteen, of Brevard; one son, Bobby (Marlene) Owen; and two daughters, Carlene (Jimmy) Galloway and Janet (James) Davis; and step-daughter, Diane Melton; grandchildren, Chris Owen, Casey Owen, Ethan Owen, David Galloway, Dana Palmer, Kelsey Smith, Colby Davis and Kylee Davis; step-grandchildren, Jason Wingate, Angela Littlejohn, Jamie Melton; and great-grandchildren, Pierson Owen, Paige Owen, Branson Palmer and Braxton Smith; step-great-grandchildren, Aleta Fisher, Piper Little-john, Dalilah Littlejohn, Haley Wingate, Hannah Wingate, Blake Wingate, Abigail Melton, Reece Melton and Bentley Jones.

In addition to his parents, his first wife, Imo Jean (Bates) Owen; one brother, Roland Owen, and three sisters, Sally McCall, Wilma Grant and Billie Gravley, predeceased him.

The family will receive friends, from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Appalachian Funeral Services.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, at Charley’s Creek Baptist Church.

Appalachian Funeral services and Crematorium, of Sylva, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
