Lowery Records Five RBIs As Brevard Wallops Cougars – Brevard NC

Cooper Grant is greeted by his teammates at home plate after smashing a solo home run in Brevard's 14-4 win over the Cougars. Brevard lost to Franklin, 4-3, Friday in their conference opener.

What began as a pitcher's duel between two lefties turned into a rout as the Brevard Blue Devils scored 13 runs in three innings to beat Mountain Heritage 14-4 last Wednesday.

Riley Smith took the mound for Brevard against the Cougars' left-hander Trevor Hughes.

Early on, both pitchers looked sharp, and Smith helped his own cause with an RBI to give Brevard a 1-0 lead after two innings.

But as the sun began to set, the bats came alive.

After moving runners to second and third in the top of the third, the Cougars recorded three straight hits for RBIs to take a 3-1 lead.

The Blue Devils...
