House Bill Would Eliminate City ETJs - Brevard, NC

The city of Brevard provided this map, showing its corporate and ETJ limits.

A proposed bill in the N.C. General Assembly would, if approved, eliminate extraterritorial jurisdictions (ETJ) across the state, including the city of Brevard's.

N.C. Rep. Cody Henson, who represents District 113, which includes Transylvania, Henderson and Polk counties, is one of three primary sponsors of House Bill (HB) 442.

If the bill becomes law, it would "remove the injustice of extraterritorial planning jurisdiction by declaring that no city may have or exercise planning jurisdiction outside its corporate limits."
