Tigers Come Up Just Short In First-Place SMC Battle

Kameron Newman fires to first base for an out during the Tigers' home game against Murphy on Friday. Newman drove in two runs and made a relief appearance on the mound in Rosman's 5-3 loss.

Fans certainly got what they came for Friday afternoon as Rosman and Murphy went back and forth over seven innings with first place in the Smoky Mountain Conference on the line.

In the end, a couple of timely Bulldogs hits were all that separated the two teams, as Murphy took the 5-3 win to stay undefeated in the SMC.

When Rosman traveled to Murphy, the Bulldogs managed a 10-2 win, but the Tigers kept things much closer this time around.

Murphy struck first in the second inning thanks to a leadoff home run.
