Everyday Education: The High Cost Of A Quality Education

We have long been told that much of the important learning needed to succeed in life takes place before we enter kindergarten. During the first five years of life the human brain develops at its highest rate, 80 percent of its adult size by age 3 and 90 percent by age 5. Adequate brain development is the foundation not only for reading, math, science and other academics, but for social and emotional development. Skills such as impulse control, problem-solving, and critical thinking are developed during the first five years of life.
