Major Trail Maintenance Work In PNF Underway - Pisgah Forest, NC

A large trail maintenance project has begun in Pisgah National Forest.

The “Pisgah 60,” as volunteers have dubbed it, is a wide-scale, minimalist effort to tackle some backlogged maintenance issues on trails, such as Butter Gap and Laurel Mountain.

Spearheaded by the Pisgah Area Southern Off Road Bicycle Association (PAS), the largest nonprofit mountain biking organization in the Southeast, and backed by the U.S. Forest Service (FS), the project originally started with Spencer Gap trail in the North Mills River tract of the forest a few years ago.
