Downtown Brevard Hosts Legacy Run Next Saturday - Brevard, NC

April 27, 2017

On Saturday, May 6, hundreds of runners and walkers will converge in the “Heart of Brevard” to support local charity Inheritance of Hope.

In its fifth year, the Hunter Subaru Legacy Run serves as a fundraiser for Inheritance of Hope, a Pisgah Forest based nonprofit that inspires hope in young families facing the loss of a parent.

“With the help of the Transylvania County Tourism Development Authority, we’ve reached out to surrounding communities to come experience ‘The Land of Waterfalls.’ We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful area, and it’s worth sharing with others. We hope visitors fall in love with our town and come back,” stated Deric Milligan, CEO & Co-Founder of Inheritance of Hope.

The Brevard community has rallied around the event too.

The Hunter Subaru Legacy Run is only possible because of generous community sponsors.

“It is inspiring to see our Brevard community get excited about the families we serve, and we are very grateful,” added Milligan.

In addition to local residents, students from Brevard High School and members from First United Methodist Church will be volunteering on the course.

Brevard Mayor Jimmy Harris will be part of the pre-race festivities again this year.

All proceeds of the community event go toward hosting more families at a Legacy Retreat®, an all-expenses-paid experience where families create lifelong memories and receive tools to navigate the challenges of a parent’s terminal illness.
