May 29, 2017 would have been the 100th birthday of President John F. Kennedy. How well I remember that November day in 1963 when the principal of Brevard High School called the student body and staff to the auditorium and announced, “The president of the United States has been assassinated.” We grieved watching the news coverage, especially the image of little John saluting the flag covered casket of his father.
