On Saturday, June 17 at 1 p.m., Highland Books will be welcoming 90's TV star and comedian Pam Stone to speak about her debut novel "Girls Like Her." Pam Stone is perhaps best known for her role on ABC's hit TV show "Coach" on which she played Coach Judy Watkins. Along with her acting career, Stone had an illustrious comedic career during which she performed at the White House and appeared on a number of shows including "The Tonight Show," "Oprah," "The Drew Carey Show," "Fifty Years of Funny Females," "Comic Strip Live," and "Joan Rivers." She also received the American Comedy Award for 'Best Female Stand Up.'

Before turning forty, Stone made an agreement with herself to leave Hollywood. This led to her and her horses moving to somewhere as different from Hollywood as it comes: a small town of two thousand in Upstate South Carolina. There, she began hosting her own radio show on 107.9FM Charlotte: "The Pam Stone Show." This show broadcast from a shed behind her barn for five years.

From there, Stone began writing a humor column for several regional newspapers, which was followed and loved. In 2011, she compiled these columns into her first book "I Love Me A Turkey Butt Samwhich."

Stones most recent book and first novel, "Girls Like Her," came out in February of 2017. This 'chick-lit' turned thoughtful drama is, Stone says, "an inspiring and empowering read for all women, as well as men." It even includes some "terrific romance."
