Coming on Aug. 16, the Transylvania Community Arts Council will host the opening of "Through the Needle's Eye," the 21st National Exhibit of the Embroiderers' Guild of America (EGA).

This premier event is being held in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Rendezvous, EGA's national seminar to be held in Asheville at the Crown Plaza. Some of the exhibitors will be teaching at the national seminar or will be involved in the seminar's organization.

The juried exhibit consists of 46 pieces of needle art displaying a wide variety of needlework techniques, plus items on loan from EGA's national headquarters. A portion of the work on each piece must be done using a needle with an eye, either by hand or machine.

After Sept. 15, the exhibit will be traveling across the United States for two years.

The mission of the Embroiderers' Guild is to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of our heritage.
