State Funds Boost Project

The proposed state budget includes $200,000 for the economic development project on Ecusta Road.

The initial project, a partnership between the city, the county and the Transylvania Economic Alliance, called for the construction of a 50,000-square-foot building on Ecusta Road that will house the expansion of a local business — SylvanSport — and be a site to attract a new one.

The state funding will help increase the footprint to roughly 60,000 square feet.
