Cemetery Research Uncovers Stories And History

In 1962, Marlu Guest Jones and her family moved to Brevard and built one of the first houses on Deerwoode Lane, located off North Country Club Road just past Brevard High School.

Jones remembered wandering through the woods one day before there were houses on the right side of Deerwoode Lane, and Country Lane did not exist.

During her walk, she found Cooper's Cemetery, which at that time had its entrance off North Country Club Road. Its entrance is now on Country Lane.

Jones said she never forgot about the cemetery and later discovered that there were many books about Transylvania County...
