Johnson's Triple-Doubles Leads Blazers To Pair Of Victories In Rec League Play

A pair of triple-doubles from Jamal Johnson helped the Blazers pick up a pair of victories to keep pace with the rest of the pack last week in Transylvania County’s summer adult basketball league.

In two games, Johnson averaged 13.5 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists.

His reward was being named Player of the Week for week five of the league.

Last week only featured two nights of games instead of the usual three.

On Tuesday, the Blazers defeated Ball Is Life 84-74.

In other action from Tuesday, Hometown Hardware defeated WNC Elite, 108-81, and Hoop Life beat Carolina Crossover, 93-60.

Scores from Thursday included the Blazers beating the Rainmakers, 90-67, Hometown Hardware defeated Ball Is Life, 106-92, and No Range, No Change cruising past Carolina Crossover, 110-59.


After week five standings are as follows: Hometown Hardware (8-0); No Range, No Change (6-1); Tar Heels (6-2); Blazers (5-3); Ball Is Life (4-4); WNC Elite (4-4); Hoop Life (3-5); Carolina Crossover (2-6); Rainmakers (1-7); Mambas (0-7).

Points: Jake Robinson (Hometown Hardware – 33.3 points per game); Jonathan Whitson (Hometown Hardware – 31.9 ppg); Andrew Freeman (No Range, No Change – 26 ppg); Nathan Whitmire (Tar Heels – 25.7 ppg); Zach Bell (WNC Elite – 25 ppg).

Rebounds: Brock Frisbee (Ball Is Life – 13.4 rebounds per game); Tom Young (No Range, No Change – 13.1 rpg); Tyree Griffin (Tar Heels – 13 rpg); Whitson (12.7 rpg); Nathan McNeill (Mambas – 12.4 rpg).

Assists: Cody Siniard (No Range, No Change – 10.7 assists per game); Jamal Johnson (Blazers – 9 apg); Hunter Reese (Tar Heels – 7.4 apg); Robinson (6 apg); Zack Jaynes (Hometown Hardware) and Will Lindsey (Rainmakers) with 5.7 apg.
