Safety A Factor In Solar Eclipse Viewing

Attendees went outside to put their boxes into action.

On Tuesday, children and adults attended a special program at the county library about the upcoming solar eclipse on Aug. 21. Using cereal, mailing and other boxes they were taught how to make safe eclipse viewing boxes. The program was led by the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI). Dr. Bob Hayward, a PARI astronomer and educator, answered questions. Lebby Moran, another PARI astronomer and educator, conducted much of the program.
