Board Discusses Health Insurance, Budget And Bond

The Transylvania County Board of Education discussed changes in the 2017-18 budget, the impact of an impasse between Mission Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield, and moving forward with a bond referendum at their meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff McDaris said budget allotments would result in the loss of three classroom teacher positions, one central office position, five months of employment in the CTE (Career Technical Education) program, $16,000 in transportation and $2,000 in classroom instructional materials.
