The Transylvania Times -

Laura Thurston To Play At Farmers' Market - Brevard, NC

August 10, 2017

It’s a morning of lots of vendors with great local produce and products, as well as beautiful live music as Laura Thurston plays at the Transylvania Farmers’ Market this Saturday morning. Thurston brings multi-instrumentalism to a new level. You will be enthralled when you see this lovely lady rappin’ on a suitcase kick drum with one foot and tappin’ on a tambourine with the other; all the while, hands on her guitar and mouth on her harp. On top of that, Thurston then adds sweet sugary vocals to her acoustic folk-grass mix while giving energy and presence to capture your attention.

This talented musician launched her solo career in 2011, performing up and down the east coast. With her original ideas and talented executions this one-woman band is sure to dazzle any audience. Thurston has her own unique style from a vintage era that will enliven you and have you feelin’ fine. Summer produce will also have you feeling good with lots of great local options: peaches, blackberries and blueberries, figs, apples, tomatoes, sweet corn, okra, peppers, cucumbers, squash, melons, and so much more.

With a focus on the bounty that Transylvania County has to offer, the market has more than sixty vendors offering fresh, locally-grown produce, meat, eggs, honey, cheeses, mustard and vinegars, mushrooms, plants, herbs, cut flowers, baked goods, jams & jellies, pickles and fermented veggies, breakfast items, coffee, prepared foods, and a variety of handcrafted and artisan items from local producers. Throughout the season, the market will host weekly music and events.

The Transylvania Farmers Market is located in Brevard, just off East Main Street behind Comporium at the corner of Johnson and Jordan Streets. It is open on Saturdays through Dec. 24 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Winter Market runs from late December through April from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
