Eye Safety A Key To Viewing The Solar Eclipse - Brevard, NC

Millions of Americans and thousands of Transylvanians hope for a clear view of next Monday’s solar eclipse. But the event also presents the danger of permanent damage to one’s eyes.

“The sun’s UV radiation can burn the retinas, leading to permanent eye damage,” said PARI President Dan Cline.

The insidious aspect of this burning, known as solar retinopathy, is that it occurs without causing pain.
