This year marks the twenty-first year I have served Transylvania County Schools as an educator. I enjoyed teaching at TC Henderson and Pisgah Forest Elementary Schools for a total of sixteen years. I worked at Brevard Middle School as assistant principal for three wonderful years before returning to Pisgah Forest as the principal last year. I am proud to be a graduate of Appalachian State University. After earning my master's degree in elementary education through Gardner-Webb University, I completed the school administration certification program through Appalachian State.

I feel very fortunate to have the support of my husband and daughter in all that I have experienced as an educator. My husband Karey is the assistant division administrator for the Department of Public Safety. Our talented daughter Emily will be attending Appalachian State University this year. Go Mountaineers! We love to spend time together being active outside boating on Lake Keowee, Kayaking and Hiking.

This year Pisgah Forest Elementary will continue on its journey to provide experiential learning for our students with an emphasis on outdoor education. This year we have professional development in place for all of our teachers through the Utotes Grant that is provided through the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. The completion of our outdoor classroom (Ranger Station) that was built on our campus last year has enabled us to support this effort and utilize many other wonderful resources in our local community to provide an enriching education to all of our students.
