Six Volunteers Save Medicare Beneficiaries Over $185,000

How did six volunteers save Medicare beneficiaries in Transylvania County more $185,000 in 2016? The answer to that question is that the Seniors' Health Insurance Program (SHIIP) counselors provided free and unbiased information and counseling to beneficiaries all year long.

Through this consumer information division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance, the counselors assist people with Medicare, Medicare Part D, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, and long – term care insurance questions.
