Patricia (Pat) Silvers

Patricia (Pat) Silvers, 72, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Mission Hospitals St. Josephs Campus with her husband and family surrounding her. 

A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Laura June Chrisawn Johnson of Micaville.

She married her best friend and love, Joe Silvers Feb. 6, 1965, and they never stopped traveling, sharing their love and excitement for life with everyone around them.  The life they shared was for one another and the people they could help.

She loved her family, the people around her and her laughter and smile took everyone in.  She shared her passion for helping others with her husband, “my Joe,” was a 47-year member of the Pisgah Forest Lion’s Club and was recently honored with the distinguished honor of “Lion of the Year,” for her years of outstanding service, loyalty and devotion to Lionism. 

She was a committed Christian, who in her younger years sang in a trio with her two sisters.  Her love and her life will be cherished by her husband, her family and many friends.

Surviving are her husband, Joe Silvers; two sisters, Vickie Rimmer, of Statesville, N.C., and Wanda Chaney, of Rock Hill, S.C .; three nieces, Machelle Brinkley, Dede Wilson and Stephanie Talbott; four great-nieces, Danielle Wilson and Morgan, Katie and Brittney Talbott.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home in Burnsville, N.C.  Rev. Stewart Humphrey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Cane River Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pisgah Forest Lions Club, P.O. Box 94, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768 for the Pat Silvers Scholarship Fund.
