The Transylvania Times -

Chamber Will Host Candidate Forum - Brevard, NC

August 28, 2017

The Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate forum on Monday, Sept. 11, beginning at 6 p.m., in the library’s Rogow Room.

For the two available Brevard City Council seats, candidates Jessica Gallagher, Mac Morrow and Maureen Copelof have been invited to participate in a traditional forum and debate session. This will be followed by a facilitated panel discussion with the unopposed candidates for Brevard mayor, Jimmy Harris, and Rosman Aldermen seats, Missy Hendricks, Jared Crowe, and Deedra Shelton. John Lanier, editor of The Transylvania Times, will serve as moderator.

The Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce is an unbiased, non-partisan organization that hosts the annual candidates forum as a community service. The event is organized by the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee. It is designed to provide citizens an opportunity to learn more about candidates and their platforms for key local races.

Questions are selected in advance of the event by the committee, with the goal of obtaining relevant information from the candidates in a fair manner. Any resident who has a question to be considered for the candidate forum should submit it via email to clark@brevardncchamber.org by Tuesday, Sept. 5.
