Hurricane Harvey Hits Home For Former Local - Brevard, NC

At Anchor Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest, work is underway to provide needed supplies to the Houston area. Volunteers Adam Nicholson and Levi Trask help prepare the items to be transported.

As Hurricane Harvey moves out of Houston, Texas, leaving the city with record-breaking rainfall and 30 confirmed deaths, former Brevard local Keith Whitt, who now lives in Houston, is preparing for a lengthy recovery period.

"From my standpoint, I've been blessed," said Whitt, a 1986 Brevard High graduate. "There are an awful lot of folks in shelters, with homes flooded, and it's going to take a long time for the city to get back to normal, but at least it has stopped raining and the storm system is completely out of the area."
