Letter from a Volunteer: United Way Super Intern Ticked All The Boxes

Sometimes, when you roll the dice, both parties win.

That was the case at the United Way of Transylvania County’s offices this summer as Brevard native Elijah Mullenax, a rising senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, stepped up and became that organization’s super intern.

As is usually the case when an organization looks for an intern, it’s a bit like the blind leading the blind. Mullenax wanted a summer job, and the folks at United Way needed an extra pair of hands. Neither knew anything about each other.
