Crack Down On Equifax

The behavior of credit reporting company Equifax over the past few years reeks of utter negligence and incompetence with a smack of criminality.

At the beginning of this year, Equifax and fellow credit reporting agency Transunion were ordered to pay $23 million in fines and restitution by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFBP). The CFBP found that Equifax had been deceiving individuals by signing them up for costly products without their knowledge, misrepresenting customers’ credit scores and violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
