Safe’s 9th Annual Llama Rama Golf Tournament returns Saturday, Oct. 7.

This year’s event will kick-off with a special Gumbo Night Dinner and Putting Contest on Friday, Oct. 6 in honor of Sallye Parsons.

Remember October is Domestic Violence Awareness month by participating in these events to support SAFE of Transylvania County.

SAFE works within our community to eliminate domestic violence and sexual violence through prevention, advocacy, education and healing.

This year’s annual Llama Rama Golf Tournament returns to the stunning Sherwood Forest Golf Club.

Registration for the golf tournament will begin on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 8 a.m.

The raffle for the llama caddies will be at 8:30 a.m.

The golf tournament will be captain’s choice, best ball.

Prizes will be awarded for the best in men's, women's and mixed best teams, closest to the pin, hole-in-one, and many more.

Beverages and snacks will be available during the tournament. A lunch and awards ceremony will follow the day’s events.

Cost of the annual tournament is $75 per player or $300 per team.

In addition to this amazing annual golf tournament, help kick-off the annual day on the greens with a putting contest and gumbo dinner.

The putting contest will begin at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend the putting contest.

Participation in the Gumbo Event dinner is not required. The special prize for the putting contest includes a Bushnell Tour V4 Shift Golf Laser Rangefinder worth $359.99.

The prize features include pin seeker with JOLT technology that provides users with short vibrating bursts to reinforce when the laser is locked into the flag.

The finder is accurate to one yard, ranges from five to 1,000 yards, and ranges flags to 400 yards.

Includes premium carrying case, battery and two-year limited warranty. The slope compensation calculates and adjusts yardage depending on the degree of slope.

Plus, the compact design will fit into any bag or cup holder.

This is a great tool for use on mountain courses and is great for golfers of all abilities.

Purchase three balls for $10 to participate in the putting contest. If at first you don’t succeed, buy and buy to get that hole in one.

The special Gumbo Night dinner will begin at 6:15 p.m on Friday, Oct. 6.

The event will be held to celebrate SAFE’s good friend and founding volunteer of the Llama Rama Golf Tournament, Salley Parsons.

Gumbo dinner will include beer and wine with special live New Orleans jazz music by Strings and Things band.
