There’s a saying I like to use – and one that has undoubtedly been paraphrased by those wiser than myself – in instances where people are appalled at circumstances that should have seemed incredibly evident.

Just because you feel duped doesn’t mean you were lied to.

This could apply to a wide array of situations, but perhaps is best exemplified by the wringing of hands and phony outrage that occurs every 8-12 months when another major scandal involving a powerhouse NCAA school bubbles to the surface.
