The Brevard College Concert Choir

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m., the Brevard College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will combine with the Brevard High School Concert Choir in a Fall Choral Collage in the Porter Center for Performing Arts. Tuesday's concert is free and open to the public.

The audience will hear all three choirs perform separately, and will also be treated to a few combined performances, including a performance of the ebullient "Veni Sancte Spiritus, K. 47" by Mozart. The remainder of the concert will cover a variety of repertoire, including a song by Haydn, an inventive onomatopoetic composition entitled "Clocks," and a couple of rousing spirituals.

This collaboration between the Brevard High School and Brevard College choirs is the first in recent memory and the directors, Bart Gilleland and David Gresham, are very excited about the kinds of musical cross-pollination that will happen. "Any time you combine choirs from different schools and of different age ranges, you get more than just the sum of their voices. I find that they really inspire each other and the resulting sound is so much more vibrant. I hope the whole town comes out to support these two programs," Gresham said.
