Mountain Sun: Students Around The World Sing For World Peace - Brevard, NC

Primary students share what makes them feel peaceful.

Sept. 21, 2017 was the International Day of World Peace where students across the world were invited to participate in the international event, "Sing Peace."

Shelley Murley, a Montessori educator from Canada, started this event in 2008 and it has grown from 80 participating schools to 860 this year.

At 9:30 a.m. the Owl and Otter classes stopped their work, joined in a circle and talked about world peace. Shortly after the discussion, parents, students, teachers and faculty joined in the song, "Light a Candle for Peace," written by Murley.
