Stroupe's Father Denied Bond Reduction -Brevard NC

October 9, 2017

A short hearing occurred today in the Henderson County Superior Court on Phillip Stroupe’s motion to have his bond reduced from the current amount of $500,000. He is charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder, a class C felony, and has been in custody since July 30. His son, Phillip Michael Stroupe II, is currently charged with first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping in the death of Hendersonville resident Thomas Bryson.

Judge Powell heard arguments from Stroupe Sr.’s lawyer, Jason Hayes, of Hendersonville, and District Attorney Greg Newman. Newman objected to any change in the bond, and Powell agreed, keeping the bond at the current $500,000 level. Stroupe Sr.’s trial date has not yet been scheduled.
