McDaris: Class Size Cap May Cause Problems

School Superintendent Dr. Jeff McDaris informed the Transylvania County Board of Education Monday night that the mandatory class size cap in grades K-3 could create more problems than initially believed.

“It’s a mess,” said McDaris.

He said school superintendents have been informed that the classes of “specials” teachers – those who teach art, music and PE – may also have to comply with class restrictions.

“That would be a disaster,” he said. “That includes PE.”
