Educational Program To Treat Hemlocks

Treating the hemlock trees on your property is now cheaper than ever and the county will assist you in restoring their health. Join other property owners at the Faith Chapel Church in Cedar Mountain on Oct. 27 to learn more.

On Friday, Oct. 27, at 3:30 p.m. the Transylvania Cooperative Extension staff will be hosting a hands-on training for homeowners interested in treating hemlocks on their own or getting information on hiring professions.

This class will be held at the Faith Memorial Chapel at 11 Faith Chapel Road in Cedar Mountain. Demonstrators will include Nick Duffy of Duffy Tree Care and Margot Wallston of the Hemlock Restoration Initiative. A variety of treatment methods, including oil sprays, soil drenches and the appropriate methods for trees close to waterways will be presented.
