Other Halloween Events Happening In Transylvania

The following are some of the other Halloween-related events in Transylvania County:

•Literary Pumpkin Decorating at the county library. All ages! Decorate your literary pumpkin at home and bring it to the library to be on display! Pumpkins can be dropped off through Oct. 31.

Anyone who brings in a literary pumpkin will be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate to Highland Books. All pumpkins must be picked up by Saturday, Nov. 4. For more information, call the Youth Services desk at (828) 884-3151 ext. 3 or email youth.services@transylva

•On Oct. 27 at the Brevard Lumber Arts District, Pisgah Thunder will be hosting the 2nd annual Thunderween, a benefit to support the The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County.


Things will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and include a costume contest with prizes and a dance party dress up.

Organizers are also promising an “unforgettable” performance by the Pisgah Thunder dance troupe. The event is only open to those 21 and older. Go to the Pisgah Thunder Facebook page for more information.

•Oaks of Brevard will host a Fall Festival from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. The festival will include trick or treating, a costume contest, pumpkin painting, games and food.

•Haunted House at 20 W. Morgan St. in Brevard is open from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, to Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Tickets are adults, $10; children 10 and under, $5. Parking is available at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Silvermont Opportunity Center.

•Brevard’s 4th Friday Gallery Walk, 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 27. Stroll in downtown Brevard and enjoy art, music and wine. For more information, go to http://www.tcarts.org.

•Costume contest and Halloween Party with Fin Dog at 185 King Street, 8-11 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27.

•Annual Halloween Bash at Dugan’s Pub in downtown Brevard, Saturday, Oct. 28.

•Cody Siniard and Dem Boys Halloween Bash at 185 King Street, 8-11 p.m., Oct. 28.

•Oak Grove Baptist Church on Kim Miller Road will host a Trunk-or Treat from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 28.

•Cedar Mountain Baptist Church will host an event, including treat bags, hot chocolate and activities for children at 5 p.m. on Oct. 28.

•Brevard Wesleyan Church will host a Trunk or Treat from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 28.

•On the night of Tuesday, Oct. 31, Brevard’s streets will likely be taken over by young and old dressed in a variety of costumes, making it a perfect family night out, particularly on Park Avenue and Maple Street, where the roads are blocked off.


•Halloween fun will also be celebrated Oct. 31 on The Plaza at the corner of Jordan and South Broad streets in Brevard from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The event will include a costume contest, face painting, food and games.
