Brevard's Thanksgiving Gallery Walk Is Nov. 24

Enjoy an evening stroll in downtown Brevard on Friday, Nov. 24 as you start or finish your Holiday shopping. Explore art, music, wine and beer tasting during the Brevard Fourth Friday Gallery Walk. Thirty-two downtown art galleries, retail stores and restaurants will be participating.

The Oskar Blues Trolley will run during the Brevard Fourth Friday Gallery Walk with stops at the following locations: TC Arts Council, West Main Street in front of Trade Arama and the Haen Gallery/Brevard Lumberyard Area. The trolley does continuous loops from 6 - 8 p.m.

Whether you've been naughty or nice, get a jump on your holiday shopping at Number 7 Arts in Brevard. This month's featured artists include two jewelers, a fine arts photographer and an artist specializing in watercolors and graphite. Meet these artists and more at Brevard's 4th Friday Gallery Walk. Meet jeweler Sonia Arnold, photographer Jack Christfield, jeweler Ruthie Cohen, and watercolor and graphite artist Donna Huyett.

The Haen Gallery in the historic Brevard Lumberyard Arts District will showcase a stunning new sculpture by J. Aaron Alderman and new paintings by Idaho-based artist Catherine Earle. Enjoy the work of local, national and international artists who offer a wide variety of paintings, photography and sculpture.

The Transylvania Community Arts Council has partnered with the Connestee Art League to host a new art exhibit that opens during the Thanksgiving Gallery Walk. The public is invited to stop by the TC Arts Council to meet the artists. Members of the Connestee Art League that are participating in this exhibit include: Sandy Hemmer, Linda Richardson, Caroline Trickey, Wanda Rogers, Karen Tuttle, Lynn Wilson, Rachel Rogers, Dotty Holum, Pat Dennis, Yvonne Goldsmith, Phil Joachim, Heidi Witmer and Joe Hagarty.

Red Wolf Gallery features the work of local, regional and national artists including gallery owner Ann DerGara. Stop by for great art, refreshments and wine. Next door at Steve Owen & Associates check out the artwork of Brevard's 15-year-old Alana Merrell. Just behind Steve Owen is the gallery called Artworks. McKenzie Keenan, at ArtWorks, will display the finished community collage, created from small squares that were handcrafted by local and traveling individuals during the Fall Gallery Walk. Other artwork on display is by gallery artists Chuck and Deborah Kidwell as well as McKenzie Keenan.

Don't miss the grand opening of the Starfangled Press Winter Art Market! Filled with inspiring artists, fine art and handmade gifts, this event is sure to provide an amazing start to your holiday shopping! For this event, Starfangled Press is excited to welcome to their gallery five remarkable print and book artists from the region: Sara Brooks - Original Brooks, Sam Moody, Sally Anne Morgan - Ratbee Press, Sunny Mullarkey - Sunny Mullarkey Studios, and Macon York - Cotton Blossom Press. Meet the artists and enjoy a complimentary wine and Oskar Blues beer tasting and popcorn bar at 36 W. Jordan St.

Located just across the alley from Starfangled Press is Aura Gallery & Studio, which is inside of Be Boutique on Jordan Street. This multi-use space features the artwork of Billy Smith, Bonita Shipman, Grey Freeman and guest artists. Around the corner on Broad Street check out Dragonfly Gallery featuring local artists, custom framing and unusual art inspired gifts ranging from boutique clothing, jewelry and home décor.

Artists @ Work will have live music at the top of the stairs featuring The Blue Ridge Bakery Boys! Lots of new ceramic work and jewelry by Lucy Clark and paintings and drawings by Catherine Cooper. Go up the stairs between Number 7 Arts and the White Squirrel Shoppe.

Gallery at 36 features world-class abstract paintings, sculpture and pottery of artists Judith Duff, Jerry Domokur, Shozo Michikawa and Seungho Yang. This gallery is located next to Wine Down on Main. Wine Down on Main will host musical entertainment and a new artist at each gallery walk.

Local Color wishes everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Please drop by and see what is new from their more than 100 artists and creative minds. New this month: Local Color is very privileged to have carved reclaimed wood wall art by the phenomenal multidisciplinary artist, Davis Murphy. In addition, John D. Richards' "Extremely Mixed Media Art" is now available in Brevard again. They carry a large variety of unique gift items from $5 to $100, and above. A few doors down check out Broad Street Wines' offering of a wine tasting during Gallery Walk with musical entertainment by Mike Sweet.

Our newest gallery in downtown Brevard is Jordan Street Arts. They will be open for Gallery Walk and have a variety of artists in the gallery to meet and greet as well as a make your own s'mores station, hot cider and other snacks. Stop by and welcome them to our creative community.

Main Street Ltd. will offer a wine tasting during gallery walk and wine specials. Be sure to visit the Hollingsworth Gallery while you are there to see the paintings of well-known Brevard artists Ray Byram.

For those looking to do some retail shopping, check out the new D.D. Bullwinkel's Outdoors and their neighbor, Theophilus. They feature art in the form of fashion, gifts and home décor. Those looking for late night music should stop by The Phoenix & The Fox for the band Trismalux playing progressive Jazz, Funk and Hip-Hop Fusion. Over at 185 King Street enjoy the Niki Talley Family Band starting at 8 p.m.
