Annie Sue Galloway Maness

Annie Sue Galloway Maness, 83, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 17, 2017.

A native of Transylvania County, she was born New Years Day 1934, to Carl and Ida Owen Galloway.

She graduated in 1955 from Memorial Mission Hospital's nursing program as a Mission Belle. Her nursing career included working as a surgical nurse in the operating room and assisting in the opening of an extended care unit at Transylvania Community Hospital. She also worked for the Transylvania County Health Depart-ment, VA, Ecusta Medical Center and Pardee Hosp-ital.

Aside from her devoted career in nursing, she was also a loving mother to her five children. She enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. Her love of sunrises and sunsets, daffodils and the Lord, will forever be remembered by her family.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Danny) Devine, Denise (Ken) Zeegers, Carlos Maness, Kim (Steve) Dunn and Pete (Rena) Maness; her grandchildren, Dyane (Pete) De La Vega, Chris (Whitney) Maness, Carl Maness, Alyse (Hunter) Cannaday, Petey Maness, Patrick Dunn, Nicholas Zeegers and Marshall Zeegers; and great-grandchildren, Claire, Pete and Evelyn De La Vega, Kai Maness and Isla Cannaday.

She is also survived by sisters, Sylvia (John) McCrary, Shirley (Calvin) Tinsley, Patricia Hampton; and numerous treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Galloway, Ivan Galloway and Clyde Galloway; and her sisters, Delphine Donnelly, Christine Wilson, Ethel Poole, Phylliss Constantine, Brenda Spillman and Brona Dunn.

A memorial service will be held in her honor Nov. 28, 2017, at 6 p.m. at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church in Brevard.

A visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to SafeLight, 133 Fifth Avenue W., Hendersonville, NC 28792.
