The Transylvania Times -

Elections Board Thanks Precinct Officials

November 23, 2017

Thank you does not begin to express the gratitude that the Board of Elections members and staff have for the service that our precinct officials give to the voters of Transylvania County. We want to recognize the precinct officials that worked this past Nov. 7, 2017, during the municipal election, as well as those that have committed to serving for the next two years.

These citizens contribute 20 plus hours of their time to train for and work in an election. They attend training sessions and take materials home to study prior to working on Election Day. Precinct officials care about their community and our democracy enough to help ensure the rest of us can participate in the democratic process. Without them, the Board of Elections would not be able to conduct elections efficiently. We recognize their dedication to and thoroughness in making sure that the election is conducted professionally and according to the general statutes.

We always welcome registered voters to become a part of our election team. The pay for being a precinct official is minimal compared to the reward of being a crucial part of the right to vote. For more information, contact the Board of Elections office at 884-3114 or go to under the Get Involved tab.

We would be remiss if we did not also thank the voters who took the time to vote, the candidates that were on the ballot, the county maintenance department that delivered and picked up the equipment, the workers that assisted the office in testing the equipment and worked in the office on the day of the election, and the City of Brevard and town of Rosman for entrusting our office with conducting the municipal elections.
