Greg Kantor and his family provided a Christmas for children in need in Transylvania County on Saturday at Rosman Town Hall.

"You see a lot of kids go without presents at Christmas time," Kantor said. "That's why my family started this five or six years ago, because we care greatly about people in this area and want to help them anyway we can."

Kantor, the owner of the French Broad Mobile Home Park on the Old Rosman Highway, moved to Rosman from Florida in 1988.

His father, Charles, started the program with 100 presents, whereas, on Saturday, the town hall was filled with 900 presents to give to children, along with the help of a food truck from the Hunger Coalition of Transylvania County, manned by Danielle Colombo and Gale Kinard, who were giving food out, and cooks from the Country Skillet restaurant in Rosman, making hot cocoa and food for everyone involved.

Kantor and his wife, Shannon, start gathering toys around Thanksgiving, and his family from Florida, such as his sister-in-law, Sage Kantor, come up to spend their time helping.

"We decided there is a need, and this is the season to give back," Kantor said. "It's nice to see the smiling faces and kids knowing they are going to have a good Christmas."
