Hayesville Pulls Off Sweep Over Rosman

The Hayesville Yellowjackets scored a pair of Smoky Mountain Conference victories Tuesday night as they defeated the Rosman Tigers at home.

The Lady Tigers lost the early game by a final of 56-32.

Rosman trailed by just four, 24-20, at halftime, but was outscored 32-12 over the final two quarters.

It was the Lady Tigers’ fifth loss in a row and drops their record to 3-6 overall.

They remain 2-1 in the SMC, which puts them in third place.

In the boys’ game, the Tigers fell 61-50.

After starting 4-0, Rosman has lost six straight games and now sit at 4-6.

The roster has been hit hard, as several players have been sidelined with illness.

The biggest loss has been the absence of senior Deland Thomas, who injured his knee in December playing in the East-West Classic football game.

Thomas’ loss is impossible to understate, as he was averaging close to a double-double (29.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game) through the first four games of the season.

Rosman’s 2-1 SMC record puts them in third place in the conference.

Both teams will be back in action this Friday when they host Murphy.

Brown, Ramirez Place At Holy Angels

A pair of Brevard jayvee wrestlers – Bobby Brown and Armando Ramirez – competed and placed last weekend in Charlotte at the Holy Angels Invitational wrestling tournament.

Brown came away with a third place finish in the 140-160 pound division and Ramirez placed fourth in the 125-140 pound class.

The Blue Devils return to the mat this Friday when they host Franklin at 6 p.m.
