Tillotson Was A Great Person

It is with both sadness and gratitude that I note the passing of Virginia Tillotson on Dec. 12, 2017. Ginny was the first woman conductor in the state of North Carolina and known as “Ginny,” “Tillie,” and “Miss Tillie.”

Ginny was a woman of quick wit and a ready smile. Her academic and professional credentials would fill a page. She taught music and conducting, while also performing herself. She was always interested in the welfare and potential talent of her students. Many of them kept in touch long after graduation.
