New Laws In Place For 2018

The New Year brought new laws that went into effect in North Carolina on Jan. 1.

The following are some of those that became law:

•Senate Bill (SB) 656: “The Electoral Freedom Act” reduces the amount of signatures “required on the petition to form a political party to 0.25 percent of the vote for governor in the most recent election, with at least 200 signatures from registered voters from each of at least three congressional districts,” according to the bill analysis.
