Prescribed Burn Planned Friday On Round Mountain

The U.S. Forest Service plans to conduct a prescribed burn Friday, weather permitting, in the Nantahala Ranger District.

The 1,762-acre burn is planned in the Round Mountain area south of Cashiers in Jackson County on the state line with South Carolina. The burn will be completed in conjunction with the Andrew Pickens Ranger District on the Sumter National Forest.

A portion of Foothills Trail from Highway 281 to Highway 107 will be closed during the burn and is expected to reopen Friday evening.
