March 1, 2018

Are you getting close to that magic age of 65 when you become eligible for Medicare?  Or have you been on Social Security Disability for over two years and are becoming eligible for Medicare?

If so, you should learn about the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) which offers free, one-on-one counseling with unbiased information and education on the topic of Medicare and the many choices available to you.

Certified SHIIP counselors will present “The Road To Medicare” in a group setting at Silvermont Opportunity Center on Wednesday, March 14, from 2-4 p.m.   This program will steer you in a direction to make decisions that make sense for your individual situation.  Topics include all the decision points for those who will be eligible soon: initial enrollment, automatic enrollment, Part B (medical benefits), Part D (drug plan benefits and late enrollment penalties), Employer Group Health Plans, Medicare Advantage plans as well as choices determined by retirement compared to continuing to work.  This group session can get you started on “Your drive to 65.”

Space is limited, so call today to reserve your seat at 884-3166. The center is located at 364 East Main St. in Brevard. Or, you can call the Transylvania County Cooperative Extension service at 884-3109 to schedule a one-on-one counseling appointment for free, unbiased information and education on Medicare.
