Updates Provided On Caldwell, Connector Projects

On Tuesday, work was progressing down South Caldwell Street toward the Main Street intersection. Issues with water and sewer infrastructure have been cited as the reason for the delay in the project's completion, which is now expected to be in early fall.

The Caldwell Street road widening project in Brevard is estimated to be "wrapped up" by early fall, according to Shep Cordray, a N.C. Department of Transportation (DOT) engineer.

The project was originally scheduled to be finished by the end of March but has been "hit by a lot of conflicts with water and sewer" infrastructure, Cordray said.

When finished, the project will widen South Caldwell Street from two to three lanes between Probart Street and the Rosman Highway, plus new sidewalks.
