$68 Million Bond Proposal Gets Official Send Off

Transylvania County staff received the go-ahead Monday to begin the process for a $68 million school improvements bond to be placed on the November general election ballot.

During its regular meeting Monday, the Board of Commissioners tasked staff after hearing from school officials, including the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Jeff McDaris.

In January, the school board voted unanimously to pass a resolution requesting that the county commissioners seek a $68 million bond.

Monday’s meeting was the school system’s official request for the county to move forward.
